1. Acute haemolytic reaction (ABO or Rh incompatibility)
Agitation, fever (rapid onset), drop in BP, flushing, abdominal/chest pain, oozing venepuncture sites, DIC
2. Febrile non-haemolytic reaction (e.g. due to HLA antibodies)
Shivering and fever 0.5-1 hr after start of transfusion
3. Anaphylaxis
Bronchospasm, cyanosis, drop in BP, soft tissue swelling
4. Allergic reaction
Urticaria and itch
5. Fluid overload
Dyspnoea, tachycardia, raised JVP, basal crepitations
6. Bacterial contamination
Fever (rapid onset), drop in BP, rigours
7. TRALI (Transfusion related acute lung injury, due to anti-leucocyte antibodies in donor plasma)
